ABOUT ME

I’m a freelance dancer, Choreographer, Contemporary dance instructor, and actress. I studied drama (acting & directing) for theater for four years, it's my bachelor's degree in college, and then I worked as a professional theatre actress in the national theatres of Cairo for two years 2009 - 2010. I also worked as a stage manager and production assistant at 2B continued festival for two years (The American University in Cairo). In 2012 I joined Cairo Contemporary Dance Center (CCDC) as a full-time student for the three years program to have a diploma in contemporary dance. In 2013 I was selected for a fully-funded scholarship in Dancing on the Edge (DOTE) at Henny Jurriëns Stichting Foundation (HJS), Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In 2014 I choreographed (Hard Shell) a physical theater dance performance as a part of the Cairo Contemporary Dance Center (CCDC) platform / Euro - Arab Dance and Performance Meeting in Cairo; therefore, I was invited by ONDA  (The French office for contemporary performing arts circulation)  for my second fully funded scholarship for my performance (Hard Shell) to attend choreographic workshops at Camping (an intensive choreography program) at the Centre National de la Danse (CN D) Panin, Paris, France. I did a presentation performance with Lucinda Child at Camping 2016.

In 2017 I got my third scholarship from VIVO Ballet, Cultural Association (Teatro Greco) Roma, Italy for three months to be part of the VIVO Nest intensive program. I performed Giselle, by Enzo Celli as part of the NEST program at Teatro Greco Rome, Italy. Also, I took part in the XS festival at Theatre National Wallonie Bruxelles, Brussels, Belgium with the performance (Ya Sem) contemporary oriental - Tahtib, by Shrein Hegazy.In 2019 I got selected to be part of the Perfocraze International Artist Residency in Kumasi, Ghana. In 2021 I was chosen to participate in Ensibuko Arts Foundation residency program in Jinja, Uganda. this residency was fully funded by the Culture Resource (Al-Mawred Al-Thaqafy) a regional, non-profit organization that seeks to support artistic creativity in the Arab region and to encourage cultural exchange within the region and beyond.

I participated in Women Artist in Residency Program at the Cordts Art Foundation in Berlin, Germany which was fully funded by Mophradat the Young Arab Theatre Fund, the first regional arts funding organization in 2021. I started working as a contemporary dance instructor in outreach programs across Cairo such as the contemporary / ballet dance program for adults and children as part of Heritage for the Living in the "City of the Dead" in Cairo, Egypt, a project funded by the European Union and implemented by ARCHiNOS Architecture in cooperation with Sultan Foundation (MASQ - Maq'ad of Sultan Qaitbey), Contemporary dance instructor at Bussy organization (The Bussy Project is a performing arts project that documents and gives voice to censored untold stories about gender in different communities, it creates a safe, uncensored space for women and men in Egypt to share their untold personal stories) in collaboration with Abnaa Elghad- Banati Foundation (for children in a street situation and those deprived of parental care. Such children are vulnerable and lead dangerous lives exposing them to different forms of exploitation as well as mental, physical, and sexual abuse ) especially adults girls who need a tool to express their selves at the end of the program she directed and choreographed a contemporary dance presentation performance showed in The Cairo Opera House under the umbrella of the European Union the main sponsor for the event, that's alongside working with other important organization with the adults and children living in the slums(children and youth in a different urban and rural community setting) of Cairo, Egypt. I also worked as a theater teacher in an experimental state school for a full academic year. I do my research in psychology and physical theater, discovering new ways in the movement of different bodies for my artistic work which I live for it.
